Description
The firepark.txt file is a tab-separated ascii file. The file contains numbers of fire detections and areas for 3964 tropical and subtropical reserves.
Column definitions:
1 = Names of countries from the WDPA database
2 = First name of reserve in the WDPA database
3 = Second name of reserve in the WDPA database
4 = Third name of reserve in the WDPA database
5 = Fourth name of reserve in the WDPA database
6 = Fifth name of reserve in the WDPA database
7 = Sixth name of reserve in the WDPA database
8 = Seventh name of reserve in the WDPA database
9 = Eighth name of reserve in the WDPA database
10 = fire detection density for 15 km buffer (number of detections km-2 yr-1)
11 = fire detection density for 10 km buffer (number of detections km-2 yr-1)
12 = fire detection density for 5 km buffer (number of detections km-2 yr-1)
13 = fire detection density for reserve (number of detections km-2 yr-1)
14 = Number of 2002 fire detections inside park
15 = Number of 2003 fire detections inside park
16 = Number of 2004 fire detections inside park
17 = Area of reserve provided by the WDPA (hectares)
18 = Area of reserve in our GIS analysis(hectares)
19 = Number of 2002 fire detections in 15-km buffer area

37 = IUCN management category of the reserve from the WDPA
38 = YES if a border of a reserve is on any body of water, NO otherwise. Evaluated by examining reserve polygons on country-level maps for PRP_WETFRST>0.9, AREAGIS1 > 5000, and CNTRY_NAME$<>’China’.
39 = identifies the five largest islands for Indonesia, Borneo for Malaysia, and Okinawa for Japan. The value ‘island’ identifies smaller Indonesian islands. The value ‘volcano’ identifies reserves with an active volcano that triggered MODIS fire detections. The value ‘city’ identifies one Philippine reserve presumably mistakenly located in a city.
